What is Feng Shui?
The word Feng means - wind and it can also be translated as meaning the flow of the air circulation.
As for Shui - it means water and water in Chinese culture means money.
Together they literally mean wind and water, the basic elements of nature in the interaction of our everyday lives.
According to Feng Shui, our life and destiny are closely interwoven with the workings of the universe and nature. The point of Feng Shui is to harness and enhance environmental ch"i within our bodies, thus improving our life and destiny. Translated, "ch"i" means human spirit, energy or cosmic breath. Ch"i is the most essential feature of life.
In the West, Feng Shui is not a science as its principles cannot be proven by any scientific method. It is not a religion, although some of its advocates may consider it part of their religious rituals. But it is not necessary to follow any religion to understand or practise feng shui. It is not just a philosophy as it also encompasses many practical tools and techniques. It is not a belief system: asking someone if they believe in feng shui is like asking them if they believe in the weather. Feng Shui is not a question of faith but a fact of life.
